4/13/16: I'm a quiet, stealthy little mamma duck.
Last week, I wasn't in the courtyard, but by today, I'm here. I won't tell you when I got here, but I've now laid a whole nest full of eggs, and I'm hunkered down for the long sit. Oh, and today, of course - Wednesday, April 13 - they discovered me out here in the courtyard.
It's ok. I don't mind. I like it here. They keep me safe, and it's a pretty quiet spot. I get visitors now and then, but they keep their distance. For instance, Pastor Stefan came out this afternoon. We shared the space: He had his coffee and an afternoon snack, and I just sat on my eggs. It was nice.
In case some of you are wondering, a duck sits on her eggs somewhere between 3 and 4 weeks. Follow my blog here, and I'll keep you posted on this year's baby chicks, let you know when they hatch, and take you along with us when we make the journey through the church, across the road, and to the pond. It's quite an adventure. You won't want to miss that.
