Christus Victor

Making Christ Known

We are an Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) congregation growing in the likeness of Christ by:

Worshiping, praying, and studying God’s word;
Being together with other people; and
Acting in faith through words and deeds both inside and outside our church walls.

By Heart: Conversations with Martin Luther's Small Catechism

As a compliment to the 500th Reformation anniversary efforts at Christus Victor, we are offering a seven-week discussion entitled By Heart, Conversations with Martin Luther's Small Catechism.

Martin Luther wrote the small catechism during a time of rediscovery of God's unconditional mercy and a time of complete incognizance of the basics of Christianity.  By occupation, Luther was an educator, and he wrote the small catechism to address the ignorance he saw amount the people in his churches. Luther wrote the Large Catechism for Pastors, whom he blamed for the ignorance of the church people.

This exciting seven-week course is for adults who have never encountered the Small Catechism, and it is for adults who studied and memorized it as adults or teens.

It is a good way for cradle Lutherans and those new to Lutheranism to renew their understanding.  The course scope is about theology and what it means to believe as Lutherans do.

As always, all were welcomed!  If you have any questions about this faith study group, please contact Deacon Jan
