Job Title: Contemporary Worship Leader
Position reports to: Senior Pastor
Employment Status: Part-Time (PAID)
Critical Qualities: Leadership, open communication, team player, strong faith, and excellent musician.
administrative Responsibilities
Coordinates the contemporary worship and music ministry of the congregation, specifically, the Sunday 9:00 a.m. “Modern Worship Service.”
Manages scheduling, coordination, and communication for all rehearsals related to the 9:00 a.m. service and other contemporary music responsibilities.
Ensures timely delivery of all necessary information for the weekly 9:00 a.m. service PowerPoint.
Promotes music ministry/worship services through the congregation communication channels.
Organizes mid-week Lenten worship services, including recruiting cantors and a pianist, collaborating with other musicians for special musical additions, and coordinating PowerPoint preparations with office staff.
Plans and leads Maundy Thursday worship service with first communion.
Organizes and leads the 7:00 am Easter Sunrise Worship and the 9:00 am Contemporary Easter Worship Service.
Assists in the Thanksgiving Interfaith Community Worship Service.
Leads and organizes the Christmas Eve Contemporary Worship.
Participate in biannual mapping sessions for future planning alongside the full staff.
Collaborates with pastors on worship service design and attends weekly staff meetings.
Engages in quarterly Worship and Music Team meetings, collaborating with blended (5:00 p.m.) and traditional (11:00 a.m.) worship teams, as well as handbell ensembles.
Selects and purchases music for all ensembles within budgetary constraints.
Maintains and organizes a music library database.
Recruitment and Musicianship Responsibilities
Leads weekly rehearsals and oversees recruitment for the Rizen Band.
Provides musical direction, offering guidance and support to musicians and contemporary music staff.
Engages individuals of all ages in music and worship activities, fostering participation.
Encourages and expands youth involvement in both vocal and instrumental music.
Identifies and recruits instrumentalists and musicians for weekly worship services.
Serves as a key resource for special musical events, including Vacation Bible School and Christmas Festival Worship.
Promotes and participates in music outreach initiatives within the community.
Maintains professional excellence through practice, performance, continuing education, workshops, and staying informed through professional publications.
Qualifications
A servant leader with a passion to know and glorify God, using a team approach.
A trained and experienced church musician with a general knowledge of Lutheran tradition in worship and music.
Demonstrated experience with planning creative worship, leading instrumental groups, and leading the congregation in participatory worship.
Demonstrated excellent ability to communicate effectively with worship and music staff and church musicians, including the ability to prioritize.
Possesses interpersonal skills, including compassionate leadership, flexibility, and the ability to collaborate with others.
Holds a bachelor’s degree or higher in music, or commensurate experience.

Job Title: Choir Director

Promotes choral music ministry/worship services through the communication channels of the congregation.
Is a resource for mid-week Lenten worship services, Maundy Thursday worship, Good Friday worship, Easter services, as well as for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day worship services.
Participate in biannual mapping sessions for future planning alongside the full staff.
Collaborates with the pastors pertaining to the choral input for worship services and is a resource for weekly staff meetings.
Attends quarterly Worship and Music Team meetings to collaborate with 5:00 blended, 9:00 contemporary and 11:00 traditional worship teams and with the handbells.
Seeks out and purchases music for all choral offerings, pertaining to this position description, within budgetary guidelines.

Recruits and rehearses choral vocalists for worship 1-2x/month and for other events/services.
