The Family-Friendly 5K Event is Back!

Join Us september 27, 2025 for a Family-Friendly 5K Race & Fun Run/Walk, where the proceeds support the christus victor food pantry!

The Christus Victor Lutheran Church Food Pantry supports over 60 families each week who come in to “shop” for free. In addition to offering nonperishable and perishable food items, we also offer personal care products and hats and gloves in the winter.

This 5K event is open to the community and will be a family-friendly event. It will be held at Busse Woods (Grove # is TBD). There will be a DJ, a raffle, and a cookout with delicious food to follow! In addition to a chip-timed 5K run or walk, there will be activities for the children and an untimed (free) children’s race. There will also be a box to collect food donations!

Everyone who attends the event will get one free raffle ticket. More raffle tickets can be purchased the day of the event!

REGISTRATION WILL BE OPENING march 1!

Looking for Community-Minded Sponsors!

To help make this event a success, we are looking for community-minded business owners to help support us! Any contributions are acceptable and appreciated, and Christus Victor is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. After race expenses, all the remaining funds will go to the food pantry and church, so we can continue doing God’s work.

The different levels of sponsorship are:

  • Silver Sponsor ($500): Businesses will have their name and logo on the event website for a full year, as well as on the back of all the t-shirts provided to the runners. They will also be included in all the communications about the event and can provide spmarketing materials to be distributed to each runner at packet pickup. (Includes two FREE race entries)

  • Gold Sponsor ($1,000): Gold-level sponsors will receive all the benefits of the silver sponsorship but will be listed above the silver sponsors’ logos on the back of the t-shirt. They will also be mentioned twice by our DJ during the race. (Includes three FREE race entries)

  • Presenting Sponsor ($2,000): Limited to one business, who will be featured on the front of the t-shirts and also featured larger atop the sponsor list on the back. The presenting sponsor will receive all the benefits in the gold sponsorship and will also receive multiple mentions from the DJ in the pre-race announcements, continuing through the awards. Additional requests will be considered if appropriate. (Includes four FREE race entries)

Ready to Sponsor this Event? Wonderful! We ask that all donations and sponsors please commit as soon as possible, with sponsorships being accepted through August 8. That said, the sooner we can receive sponsorships the better!

~ 2024 Recap ~

Thank you to everyone who came to our 5K on Saturday, Sep. 21! It was a great day that raised over $4,000 for our food pantry!

On Sep. 21, we had almost 100 people show up to the "I'm Just Here for the Food (Pantry)" 5K family-friendly event at Busse Woods. The sun was shining, and we had a great mix of runners, joggers, walkers, volunteers, and attendees! The raffle prizes were a HUGE hit, as well as the delicious food—compliments of Wild Fork! We are so excited to share that from all the registrations and raffle donations, we raised over $4,000 for our food pantry!

We have so many people to thank! A special thank you to our sponsors for helping make this event a success: Grove Memorial Chapel, Elk Grove Village Bank & Trust, DPFG Dato Pistorio Financial Group, Inc., Porte Brown, Wild Fork, and Xtra Mile Running. We also want to thank J3 for timing the race, DJ Adam Jams for providing the great tunes, and to Megan Radowick for singing the National Anthem! Thank you to our Sunday Schoolers who created the awards for those who took 2nd or 3rd place in their age group. A heartfelt thanks also goes out to all who volunteered the day-of and to the 5K committee who helped plan this event: Pastor Stefan & Henri Potuznik, Chris & Christina Schiel,  Mark Schumacher, and Tim Monahan. And a huge thanks to Pam Scully for gathering and hosting such an amazing raffle and to Tony Flaim for bringing the fun as a clown! PHEW!

Thanks to everyone's efforts, we can continue to reliably feed the 60 families who come visit the food pantry each week and we anticipate this race will grow into a wonderful tradition!

Thank you to our 2024 sponsors!
